Baume et Mercier has been praised by one blogger, who says the brand's use of social networking sites is offering fans a unique service.
Founded in 1830, Baume et Mercier has gone on to carve an illustrious reputation in the industry, with a string of high-profile, high-quality luxury timepieces to its name.
Thomas, writing for Watches Blog, says: "One hundred and eighty years of fine watch making results in an envious heritage. And now in 2010 Baume et Mercier [is] on Twitter and Facebook, looking for novel ways of interacting with watch enthusiasts."
On Facebook, the brand has set up a diary entitled Secrets of a Watchmaking Family, while on Twitter it is giving followers daily insights and tales.
Baume et Mercier claims to work by its motto - 'Accept only perfection, only manufacture watches of the highest quality' - states Thomas.
The Swiss company announced earlier this month that it is also due to launch a feature on the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie event, which took place recently.
